There appear to be some connectivity problems with NYI’s network making FastMail disappear. We’re investigating to find out what’s going on.
Update: Everything appears to be fine again. It appears to have been a small issue affecting only a few users coming in from some networks It appears the entire NYI network was out for about 15 minutes affecting access for all users. Everything appears to be back to normal now
Due to a configuration snafu on ext1, mail has been delayed there for up to a day.
We haven’t had any outages on in1.smtp during that time, so the only mail that should have gone to in2 is:
a) SPAM
b) mail from machines that were having network connectivity issues to our NYI network but could get through to serverbeach where ext1 is hosted.
So hopefully very little legitimate mail was delayed, but you may see a small flood of delayed SPAM. You can tell if a message went through ext1 by choosing “Full Headers” while looking at the message, and finding a line containing “ext1.messagingengine.com”.

We’re doing the upgrade that we did to server1 a couple of weeks ago. This will allow us to enable the :copy sieve extention for much nicer filtering syntax.
We expect a downtime of about 5 minutes on each server, and will be doing them consecutively, so the downtimes will occur across the next half an hour or so as we check after each upgrade that everything is running smoothly.
edit: all done – the upgrades ran smoothly, and much faster than we anticipated 
We’ve had an overload problem on s1. Load average is over 200 at the moment, so it’s going to take a while to fix things.

edit: everything is back now. The imap server was out of file descriptors. We’re investigating what caused that, and will be monitoring the server closely.
We’re upgrading the IMAP server software on server1, and will have a 5-10 minute outage while this happens.
