New users may experience some delays to outgoing mail while we are taking care of misuse of our systems by spammers. Signup for new guest accounts is also temporarily disabled.

All the accounts that were part of this spamming run have now been blocked, and the half a million!!! emails still in the outbound queue have all been detected and purged. Everything is back to normal.

… except that we’re leaving guest signups blocked until we can come up with a better way to stop this happening again. At least until it’s daytime for someone who is working on it.

We are experiencing network issues that mean the site is offline for all users. We will update as soon as we know what’s happening.

Update: everything is back up. We estimate the downtime at 1/2 hour. It was caused by a failure on one host which flooded our internal network.

We have seen the same issue before, but been unable to get any further information. This time we have a lot more information, and should be able to isolate the cause.

Meanwhile, the offending host has been powered down, and services are back to normal. We apologise for any trouble this outage has caused.
